Professor D’Souza is currently Professor of Economics at IIM Ahmedabad. He is a consultant to the Indian industry and banking sector, the Reserve Bank of India, the United Nations Development Programme, the International Labour Organization, the Planning Commission as well as the central and various state governments.

He has worked as a member of the academic committees of the University Grant Commission and the Indian Council for Social Science Research; and he was a Visiting Scholar, Columbia University, Visiting Senior Research Fellow, National University of Singapore, Visiting Professor, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, and India Chair Professor at Sciences Po (Paris). He is also a director on the board of the National Housing Bank.

Prior to joining IIMA, Prof. D’Souza served Goa University and the University of Mumbai where in 1999, he was appointed as the Industrial Finance Corporation of India Chair Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Mumbai.

Professor D’Souza’s academic interests and areas of expertise include tax reforms, fiscal and monetary policy, the structure of corporate finance, social security and livelihood issues in the informal sector and personnel economics. Professor D’Souza has published several articles in various journals and books and has authored a book Macroeconomics which is well received by academia as well as policy makers.
